Well planned out weddings are simply stunning. If you are newly engaged and are starting to look at your options, then you already know how many stunning venues we have in and around town. If you don’t, I highly suggest you check out my blog: 25+ Best Charlottesville Wedding Venues. These venues have such potential to host the most amazing weddings! By the same token, you need to work with a planner who will take the actual planning of your day off your hands. Mary Andrews, the founder of Mary Elizabeth Events is the one you need! I had the opportunity to ask Mary a few questions about herself, and her love for wedding planning (so you don’t have to).
Q: What is the most popular service you offer?
Our partial service planning package is the most popular options. With partial planning, we set you up for success as you start your wedding planning journey, and act as your personal wedding consultants throughout the planning process. Our couples get the excitement of planning their wedding, without the stress of doing it alone.
Q: How many weddings do you take on per year? How far outside of your location do you serve?
Between me and Nadia, our goal is up to 20 weddings per year. While the vast majority of our weddings are within our home area, I’ve traveled all around Virginia, DC, and even Boston for weddings.
Q: Do you specialize in any particular type of weddings?
The great thing about weddings is that each one is as unique as the couple celebrating, and we love every event for different reasons. I wouldn’t say we have a speciality.
Q: Do you offer any services outside of full planning?
Yes, we offer full-service, partial-service, and wedding coordination, as well as hourly consultation services.
Q: Do you offer services on non-wedding days?
Sure do! Nadia and I have ample event experience, whether it’s planning non-profit galas, academic conferences, or corporate meetings.
Q: Are there any venues that you particularly like and would recommend to brides? Why?
I love Veritas Vineyards, Pippin Hill Farm, and King Family Vineyards as venues with great rain plan options in beautiful locations. Your guests also don’t have to travel far between spaces.
Q: What would your advice be to brides who don’t currently have a planner?
You can’t be the guest of honor and the event manager at the same time. A wedding planner or coordinator will take the logistics off of your very full wedding day plate, and allow you and your family to relax and joyfully take in every moment.
Q: How long have you been a planner?
I opened Mary Elizabeth Events in 2018, following time as an events assistant at Veritas and other adventures in the hospitality industry.
Q: What made you want to get into wedding planning?
I’ve always been a planner at heart. I decided I wanted to be a wedding planner when I was 18 and a freshman in college, and just kept following that dream!
Q: Personally, what is your favorite part of the planning process?
My favorite part is on the wedding day. Once the couple has their first dance on the dance floor, I really feel as if my job is complete. All the months (or years) of planning culminate in this moment, surrounded by friends and family.
Q: Just for fun- What do you like to do in the off season?
Travel abroad, binge watch TV shows, and work on behind-the-scenes wedding design that takes place in the slower event seasons.
If you are having your wedding in Virginia, or anywhere on the East Coast for that matter you need Mary and Nadia there with you. As a luxury wedding photographer, I have worked with a countless number of couples with and without planners. I can confidently say that planners are worth their weight in gold!
