Williamsburg Winery Wedding is perfect for couples looking for a historic and charming feeling venue. When Arielle told me she was hosting her wedding here, I was so excited! I have known Arielle since high school, and from her description of the venue I knew it was going to be a gorgeous day. The venue’s landscape covers 400 acres of woods, fields, gardens, and vineyards. Couples will not only love the historic ambiance, but they will also enjoy the wide range of locations the venue offers on site to say “I do”. If you are newly engaged and are looking for a gorgeous venue surrounded by colonial and European roots to celebrate your special day, take a peak at Arielle and Matt’s wedding, and keep reading to learn more about this historic venue!
Reminding them about their European roots, owner Patrick Duffeler turned Wessex Hundred farm into a successful business with vineyards, gardens, a hotel, and a restaurant. Wessex Hundred dates back to Colonial era and the first grapes were planted as early as 1609. With 40 years of experience, Duffeler has done extensive climate research, soil analysis, and lots of trial and error, he has begun to understand what grows well on his land. Duffeler often uses the two words “Enjoy Life” and used them as a vision when shaping a place, not just to make wine but to make memories. Along with their amazing wine, Williamsburg Winery also offers an on-site hotel. This is where I spent most of the day with the couple getting ready, as you will see in later pictures it is conveniently located next to the winery, yet gives a sense of privacy.
One of Williamsburg Winery’s reception locations is Westbury Hall. It is a mid-sized banquet room that is perfect for a small ceremony location and makes the perfect cocktail hour space. The Tudor style of this barn offers natural lighting with iron lit chandeliers, oak beams, and wooden columns breaking up the room. If you have a smaller guest count it can also make a grand reception space because of the dramatic staircase.
In contrast, Wessex Hall is the perfect for couples looking for an indoor ceremony spot or those that have a larger wedding party. This reception holds up to 200 seated guests! The inside of Wessex Hall is filled with a rustic, timbered structure and is lit by iron chandeliers and features two stone fireplaces imported from France. Can you say a dreamy, cozy reception?
Lastly, Wessex Lawn is behind both of these lovely reception spots. The raised lawn overlooks newly planted vineyards and a picturesque duck pond. It matches the hotel’s grandeur style perfectly.
Craving a rustic and wine infused look to your wedding day? Go to the Barrel Cellar to capture rustic chic photos for your wine-country wedding! The cellar creates the perfect backdrop while your surrounded by tons of world-class Virginia Wine. Another romantic spot (and one of my favorites) is the vineyards located on-site. They are a great spot to capture your first-look pictures.
Lastly, my absolute favorite spot is the winery’s hotel, Wedmore Place. The 28-room boutique hotel is not only a good for overnight option, but it’s also perfect for wedding photos. The courtyard has a dreamy fountain and is seriously one of my top spots to take portraits! Not to mention the convenience of getting ready in the hotel. It has the most impeccable lighting for indoor bridal photos! Just take a peak at these from my last wedding there!
When you book a wedding with Williamsburg Winery, your package includes:
Can you believe that all of this is included in your wedding package?! On the 2nd floor of Westbury Hall holds the ideal Bridal Suite for your Bridal Party to relax and prepare for you to say “I do”. In addition, there is a continental breakfast menu for your bridal party at $15 per person, lunch buffet at $25 per person, and a la carte menu for $125 that can feed up to 8 guests.
The winery also offers a range of options between a plated or buffet style meal for your reception, along with a cocktail hour and dessert menu. Couples can also choose between 3 different bar packages that may include wine, beer, and liquor.
